ANZAC Ship Training Capability Replacement Study

As a result of the successful selection process employed for the Minehunter Training Equipment SMA was invited to undertake a study of options available to the Royal Australian Navy to replace the ANZAC Ship Training Capability once the current training equipment is removed.

SMA's services included:

  • developing a selection methodology to determine the most effective method of replacing current capabilities

  • compiling a list of potential training equipment

  • developing a decision support tool to evaluate the candidates using a variety of weighting schemes jointly developed with the Customer

  • providing a report detailing recommended solutions

The recommendations of the study are under consideration. Nonetheless, the clear conclusion is that significant cost savings can be made through selective use of simulation, part task trainers and carefully selected elements of real equipment when compared to the cost of full replacement of the existing equipment suite.
