Stabilised Visual Approach Equipment

SMA is the prime contractor for the supply of Stabilised Visual Approach Equipment (SVAE) to the Royal Australian Navy for installation into HMAS SUCCESS and HMAS TOBRUK.

SVAE enhances the safety of helicopter operations from the ships, by providing the pilot with additional information about the ships' movements. SVAE comprises a stabilised glide slope indicator, a stabilised horizon reference bar, stabilised vertical reference system and peripheral items.

SMA's services include:

• project management of the overall acquisition

• development of all Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) deliverables

• conduct of operator and maintainer training

• development of installation options.
